Tuesday February 2nd Reading
Hope you enjoyed your first day of reading. If you didn't get the chance to read yesterday you've got DOUBLE to read today!! :) The reading for today is 1 Nephi 5 THROUGH 1 Nephi 10.
I loved reading in chapter 7:9-12 where it is constantly talking about forgetting. It's so easy to forget the miracles, blessings, etc. that we're constantly given. We need to always remember. That just hit me very strong when I read that yesterday.
In chapter 9, it talks about how Lehi "did exhort them then with all the feeling of a tender parent...and bade them to keep the commandments...and did cease speaking to them" talking to Laman & Lemuel. Continually, they complained and treated, especially Nephi, terrible, yet despite all this their father was patient and "tender" when trying to convince them to do the things they should do. And then when he had told them the things he needed to tell them, instead of telling them over and over in the same instant, he just told them once and stopped talking. What a loving, patient and smart father he was. :)
1 Nephi 5:17,21..."And now when my father saw all these things, he was filled with the Spirit...." "And we had obtained the records which the Lord had commanded us, and searched them and found that they were desirable..." Aaahhh...how grateful I am that Nephi did not give up until he had "done what the Lord hath commanded"...what a blessing the "truth" is in my life!! I pray I can be more in tune and obedient in what he wants me to do each day.
